Having a career in logistics can take many different routes and for one member of the team hands on experience has paid off.
Alistair Plant, 27, from Worksop recently held the post of Divisional Operations Manager for the 3PL part of the business however, just a few days ago he assumed his new role, Business Development Manager, looking after existing customers and securing new business as Carlton Forest 3PL continues to prosper.
Having started his career with a well-known household store, Alistair spent almost ten years learning and training in many elements of logistics, stock management and supply chain before joining Carlton Forest a little over two years ago as Warehouse Manager.
“Carlton Forest is a unique place to work, and it’s been great to develop my skill set and play a part in growing the business over the last two years,” said Alistair. “Moving into my new role will allow me to focus on the commercial aspect of the business a little more and play a key role in the strategic growth plans of the business.”
With demand expected to stay high for sourcing and storing goods in the UK, Alistair predicts that levels seen over the last 12 months are not set to decrease any time soon with many businesses now choosing UK based solutions to negate any future EU or global issues.
“The part that the supply chain plays in everyday life has been firmly in the spotlight in the last year and in my new role I’ll continue to help businesses retain that vision and support them to find the best logistics solutions available for them,” said Alistair. “I’m looking forward to a long-term future with Carlton Forest and developing my knowledge and progressing my career further with them. As a family-owned business, you really do feel that you are part of a team that drives forward decision making and empowers its people to be confident, ambitious and a team player.”
In his spare time Alistair enjoys spending time on the golf course, watching Sheffield Wednesday, and seeing his two young children grow up.
