CFG-005,006,007-(Jan-2017)The Logistics Employer Board, an initiative in partnership with RNN Training, sees key suppliers and partners from the warehousing and logistics network in the North Notts and South Yorkshire area meet to share ideas and knowledge and forge the future of this employment sector.
At its most recent meeting, which was held at our site, a number of topics were tackled including training opportunities for new and current staff.
“It was our pleasure to welcome our industry peers and colleagues to Carlton Forest and for them to see what we currently have on offer and also our exciting plans for the future,” said Graham White Operations Manager Carlton Forest Warehousing. “Productive discussions took place about our place in the Sheffield City Region and the future of apprenticeships in all our businesses – an area which we all view as critical for the succession planning of skilled individuals in all disciplines from stock control, purchasing, logistics and sales and administration functions.”
The board also discusses matters pertaining to the constraints, opportunities and legalities surrounding the industry and through sharing knowledge a best practice mentality is achieved benefitting all partners in a variety of ways.
“This area is a prime location for investment with huge names such as Wilkinson, B & Q and Amazon choosing it for their large scale distribution centres,” said Graham. “This can be attributed to our fantastic geographical location but also the reputation the area has for providing the highest quality logistics solutions. Now, we all want to work together to secure further openings and to ensure the longevity of the opportunities so that local people can carve long term careers with us all.”
