Our Group Commercial Director took on a rather icy challenge recently, all in the name of charity.
In a chance conversation, in the kitchen one morning, that went something like…
Graham (Group Commercial Director) – Did you know that Mark Walker is doing a charity challenge to sit in ice for 100 seconds every day for 100 days as part of the Royal British Legion ‘100 challenge’ in honour of Sir Captain Tom Moore?
Diane Ward (Group COO) – We’ll give him £500 towards this, but you have to get in as well!
Graham – OK, get writing your cheque!
So, on a chilly May morning, Graham jumped into the barrel of ice and handed over a cheque to £500 to Mark, who had already raised almost £2500.
Graham commented; “Mark has been doing this challenge every day, so me doing it for just one day was the least I could do. I can’t describe how cold it felt, but we’re delighted to make the donation to his fundraising and wish him lots of luck as he completes the challenge.”
Mark, an ex-service man from Worksop who owns a transport company which provides haulage for Carlton Forest 3PL, is exercising for one hour each day before submerging himself in an ice bath for 100 seconds, and calling out his number, rank and name. He is also giving up alcohol for 100 days so in effect, it is three challenges in one.
He commenced his challenge on 1st May so there is still plenty of time to donate on his Just Giving Page. Mark Walker is fundraising for The Royal British Legion (justgiving.com).
